2012 Conference: Collaborating & Innovating for Healthier People, Stronger Communities

In September, Free Clinic staff, volunteers and supporters came together once more for the the 7th Annual Washington Free Clinic & Charitable Care Conference in Tacoma, WA. This year’s conference sessions focused on sharing the wisdom and experience of attendees in focused roundtables and facilitated discussions, with a few keynote sessions to balance out the weekend.

Highlights included a welcome from Representative Laurie Jinkins of Legislative District 27, an update on healthcare reform implementation in Washington from Jonathan Seib, policy advisor to Governor Christine Gregoire, World Cafe conversations sessions on both Friday and Saturday, the first ever Raise Your Glass to the Free Clinics of Washington recognition and appreciation banquet and the presentation of the 2012 Marcia Howery Award.

2011 Conference: Collaboration & Volunteerism: Communities Investing in Healthcare Access

Representatives from clinics and public health agencies across the state gathered in Vancouver in late September to network and learn together about opportunities and examples of communities investing in healthcare access.

Highlights included a keynote address by Mark Cruise of Free Clinic Solutions, the presentation of the 2011 Marcia Howery Award to the late and great Ken Terhaar, tours of the New Heights Clinic and Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, and abundant networking time.

2010 Conference: Turning Challenges into Opportunities

Representatives from clinics across the state gathered in Ellensburg in September to network and strategize on how to sustain, improve and expand services to uninsured residents of Washington in the face of worsening economic conditions. As we enter the era of Health Care Reform, sessions throughout the conference focused on providing implementation updates and analysis of gaps to inform plans for growth and change in the Free Clinic community.

Highlights included a keynote address by Washington Secretary of Health Mary Selecky, an inspiring Marcia Howery Award Banquet, a tour of the Ellensburg Community Health Clinic and an informative presentation by Mark Cruise of Free Clinic Solutions.
